Visit the City of Durrës

Durrës is one of the oldest cities in Albania and is only 20-30 minutes from Golem, making it one of the easiest trips for an afternoon or morning of exploring during your holiday week. The first stop should be the Roman Amphitheatre, built in the 2nd century, one of the largest monuments of its kind in the Balkans. Just a few steps away is the Archaeological Museum, which tells the city's history from the Illyrian period to the Ottoman era. The seafront promenade is ideal for a peaceful evening walk, with many cafés and restaurants overlooking the sea. For those wanting a bit more adventure, Durrës Castle and the Clock Tower in the historic centre are also interesting stops. If you're travelling with children, the city beach and the free areas for walking make Durrës an excellent choice for a day combining history and relaxation. Because of its proximity to Golem, you can even visit it without planning a whole day.
